Walden Behavioral Care selected the Northampton location as its first satellite office after many discussions with individuals and practitioners in the Pioneer Valley and contiguous communities, who confirmed the urgent need for eating disorders treatment programs in this area.

Walden Behavioral Care opened its comprehensive Eating Disorders Program in downtown Northampton at 109 Main Street in October 2008.

Programs provided at the site include:

• Partial Hospitalization
• Intensive Outpatient
• Adolescent After School (IOP)
• Comprehensive/Second Opinion evaluations

Additional programs will be offered as the need presents itself, such as an Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program and treatment for Binge and Night Eating.

Program Descriptions:

Adult PHP Program:

• 3-4 week program, five days/week
• Group Programs including cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, and interpersonal and family therapies along with psychopharmacology and nutritional therapies

Eligibility:

• Male or Female
• Ages 18 and older
• Medically stable

Adult IOP Program:

• 4-6 week program, three evenings/week
• Group Programs include cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, and nutrition and expressive therapy groups

Eligibility:

• Male or Female
• 18 years or older
• Does not require a hospital level of care
• Actively working with an outpatient team

Adolescent after School (IOP) Program:

• 6-8 week program, three evenings/week
• Each family has a weekly family session, either directly before or after program
• Each client has an individual clinical administration meeting to review progress and tailor specific interventions
• Parents attend two group therapy sessions weekly
• Adolescents attend six group therapy sessions weekly
• Families attend three dinners weekly

Eligibility:

• Male or Female
• Ages 12-17 and their families
• Medically stable
