Based on feedback from college administrators, health care professionals and members of the community regarding the need for Eating Disorders programming in Central Massachusetts, Walden Behavioral Care opened its Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at 335 Chandler St. in Worcester in February 2011. A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) was added in January 2012.
Additional programs will be offered as the need presents itself.
Program Descriptions:
Adult PHP Program:
- 3-4 week program, meeting Monday through Friday
- 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Group s include: Dialectical/Cognitive Behavior Therapies, interpersonal and family therapies,and psychopharmacology and nutritional therapies
Eligibility:
- Male or Female
- Ages 18 and older
- Medically stable
Goals:
- Relapse Prevention
- Weight Stabilization and Restoration
- Interruption of Eating Disordered Thoughts and Behaviors
- Normalization of Eating
- Psycho-education,Focusing onNutrition and Eating disorders
- Return to Independent Living
- Skills to Manage Anxiety and Impulses
- Acquisition of Skills to Help Patients Cope With Emotional Eating Dysregulation
Adult IOP Program:
- 4-6 week program that meets Monday, Wednesday, Thursday with the potential for a Saturday option
- Monday, Wednesday and Thursday hours: 5:15-8:30
- Groups include: Dialectical/Cognitive Behavior Therapies, relapse prevention and a specialized track for binge/night eating
Eligibility:
- Male or Female
- 18 years or older
- Does not require a hospital level of care
- Actively working with an outpatient team
Adolescent After School (IOP) Program:
- 6-8 week program, three evenings/week
- Each family has a weekly family session, either directly before or after program
- Each client has an individual clinical administration meeting to review progress and tailor specific interventions
- Parents attend two group therapy sessions weekly
- Adolescents attend six group therapy sessions weekly
- Families attend three dinners weekly
Eligibility:
- Male or Female
- Ages 12-17 and their families
- Medically stable
