Walden Behavioral Care, LLC - Psychiatric Care

Walden Behavioral Care's Adult InPatient Psychiatric Program provides comprehensive treatment of phychiatric illnesses and co-occurring disorders.

Walden treats a wide range of mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, bi-polar illness, trauma reactions, co-occurring addictions and disorders that impair normal thought processes. Several managed healthcare plans use Walden as a regional treatment facility for patients with acute psychiatric distress.

Achieving Lasting Results
While a hallmark of the Walden approach is to treat each person based on individual situations and circumstances, scientific research confirms a critical feature of effective treatment: Combining medical treatment, usually medication, with psychological intervention produces superior results to either of the approaches alone.

Patients who actively engage in making educated decisions about their care, and who are self-directed toward meaningful life goals, are far more likely to follow through with treatment and achieve lasting results.

With this in mind, Walden staff engages patients and families in the process of achieving lasting results. Examples of patient and family involvement include participation in treatment planning meetings, development of comprehensive recovery plans and joint choices of which medications to use.

Multidisciplinary Staffing
The Walden treatment staff includes experienced professionals representing each of the primary mental health disciplines - psychiatry, psychology, nursing and social work - as well as professionals who focus on internal medicine, nutrition, recreation and other aspects of wellness. Walden's professional staff understands that the best care integrates all of these areas with the patient's needs and goals, and helps patients to communicate with their support network - their family, their doctor, their employer or school, and their therapist in the community.

Coordination with outside clinicians, social service agencies and patients' families helps to ensure a smooth transition to a full range of levels of care, including both hospitalization and partial hospitalization, encouraging re-integration into the community.

A knowledgeable, involved approach to crisis intervention and management helps patients and their families move through episodes in a way that promotes healing and growth. Compassion and respect of patients are standards of treatment throughout the program.

All psychiatric programs take place in an environmentally conducive, therapeutic space. With bright colors, an abundance of natural light and lots of quiet spaces, we offer a setting designed to give patients plenty of privacy and help them feel comfortable and safe.

All treatment programs include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric and chemical dependency evaluations
  • Individual, family and group psychotherapy
  • Psychopharmacological evaluations
  • Occupational therapy
  • Specialized programs for addicted patients with co-existing psychiatric and medical disorders
  • Individualized after care and follow-up services with linkages to the community
  • Nutrition evaluations and interventions
  • Case management
