Walden Behavioral Care

Levels of Care

Walden Behavioral Care provides both inpatient care and partial hospitalization for patients 16 years and older who need psychiatric care. The Walden treatment staff includes experienced professionals representing each of the primary mental health disciplines - psychiatry, psychology, nursing and social work - as well as professionals who focus on internal medicine, nutrition, recreation and other aspects of wellness.

Walden's Inpatient Psychiatric Program provides comprehensive treatment for those with psychiatric and co-occurring disorders, including drug or alcohol addiction and eating disorders. Several managed-healthcare plans use Walden as a regional treatment facility for patients with acute psychiatric distress.

Walden's Partial Hospitalization Program provides a bridge between inpatient care and independent living, so that patients can better make the transition to outpatient services. Staff assist patients in maintaining their prescribed therapy and help them make the lifestyle changes they need to make to live independently.

While a hallmark of the Walden approach is to treat each person individually, based on the individual's circumstances, scientific research confirms two critical features of effective treatment:

  • Combining medical treatment, usually medication, with psychological intervention produces results that are superior to those achieved by either approach alone.
  • Patients who make educated decisions about their care, and who are self-directed toward meaningful life goals, are far more likely to follow through with treatment and achieve lasting results.

With this in mind, Walden staff does everything possible to engage patients and families in the process of achieving lasting results.

Helping Patients Reclaim Their Lives

A knowledgeable, involved approach to crisis intervention and management helps patients and their families handle health crises in a way that promotes healing and growth. Compassion and respect for patients are standards of treatment throughout the program.

We provide an environment that gives patients plenty of privacy, and helps them feel comfortable and safe.

All treatment programs include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
  • Alcohol and chemical dependency evalutations
  • Evaluations of alcohol and drug dependency
