Eating Disorders Services For Adolescents
Walden provides a full continuum of care for adolescents and teens 12-17 years of age with eating disorders, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.
To determine which level of care meets the adolescent’s current medical and emotional needs, an initial clinical assessment is performed. After the assessment is completed, patients are referred to the appropriate level of care and assigned a treatment team including a case manager, nurse and physician. This team of experts designs a comprehensive treatment plan to meet the adolescent’s medical, nutritional, behavioral and psychiatric needs.
Throughout treatment, patients are continuously monitored and treatment is adjusted as needed. While many patients advance through the continuum and onto full recovery, some patients will need to move from a lower level of care to a higher level of care to accommodate their current needs.
Support for Family and Friends
Family and friends play an important role in treatment. Throughout their adolescent’s treatment and recovery Walden offers families and friends the opportunity to participate in support and recovery groups that educate them about eating disorders and teach effective ways to tolerate stress, manage emotions and interact with their loved one during difficult times.
