Reconnecting With Daily Living
The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program combines the independence of living in the day-to-day world with a highly structured and supportive environment. This program is ideal for adolescents who need more structure and intensive treatment than outpatient care alone can provide. We believe with encouragement, self-determination and family support, patients can progress to outpatient treatment and a full recovery.
Requirements:
- Female and male, 12-17 years of age and their families
- Do not require a hospital or residential level of care
- Require program structure and support to control eating disorder behavior
Goals:
- Relapse prevention
- Stabilization of weight or weight restoration
- Interrupt eating disordered thoughts and behaviors
- Normalize eating
- Return to independent living
- Obtain skills to manage anxiety and impulsivity
- Acquire skills to cope with dysregulation of eating behaviors
Treatment Includes:
- Case management – including coordinated care with patients outpatient team
- Supervision of two therapeutic meals and two snacks daily
- Medical management
- Nutrition counseling
- Group therapy
- Educational support
- Discharge planning
Treatment Team Includes:
- Psychiatrist/Nurse practitioner
- Dietitian
- Social workers
- Mental health counselors
Groups Include:
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Self-esteem
- Nutrition Education
- Expressive Therapy
- Body Image
- Relapse prevention
Support for families includes:
- Intensive education
- Family therapy
- Coached meals
- Support Groups
Program Hours:
- Patients typically attend for 3-4 weeks, Monday through Friday
- Program runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
