Psychiatric Care Services

We realize at Walden that no two individuals who come to us for psychiatric treatment are alike and that it is our responsibility to acknowledge and respect these differences. Our staff uses a wide range of therapeutic modalities, medical treatments and group therapies to address the needs of the whole person in a compassionate and caring way.

Thoreau Center For Inpatient Psychiatric Care

Walden’s Thoreau Center for Inpatient Psychiatric Care is a short-term, 24-bed locked unit that treats females and males – ages 16 and older – with complex mental illnesses, including depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, co-morbid disorders and addictive disorders. The center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with an average length of stay of eight days.

Walden Psychiatric Associates Outpatient Services

Walden’s outpatient services are located in Waltham. At these locations, we can treat adults and adolescents – male and female – with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders. At these locations, a team of clinicians, psychiatrists, dietitians and other mental health providers work together to offer patient-centered, science-based care. Each patient’s unique genetic, biochemical and nutritional status is evaluated by select members of the team to determine the best course of treatment.
